Art Portfolio-ART 12301

Course Description: This course will teach the student to the basic skills necessary to document his or her professional production in the visual arts. Additionally, students will learn how to create a resume, artists statement and cover letter appropriate for professional practice in the visual arts. Concepts relating to personal and professional development in the arts will be developed. This course is designed for students wishing to complete a minor, associates degree or bachelor’s degree in art.

Goals

Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

Create high quality digital photographs of two and three dimensional artwork.

Submit a portfolio of digital images in an organized manner, using correct sizing, naming, and format.

Create a professional artist's resume, statement, cover letter and biography without any errors of spelling, punctuation or format.

Write a short essay that relates his or her experience as an artist to the ideas expressed in the textbook.

Final Portfolios Due: Monday, October 11, beginning of class.

Final Exam: Wednesday, October 13, during class
