Research Projects for Upper-Level studio courses
In upper level studio courses, students should be self-directed in their scholarly and creative production. Each student must develop a plan for completing one or more projects within the semester. These projects should be gallery-ready, finished pieces.
In upper-level studio courses, students should concentrate on the creation of a cohesive body of work. The work made in these courses should have some formal, technical or conceptual connection with other work you have created, including work in other media. These ideas should be referenced in your artist statement.
Use the Studio Research Project Form to plan and document projects completed in upper level studio art courses (300 and 400 level courses). Each student may complete a number of projects in each course, or just one, depending on the complexity and scope of the projects. You must meet with your instructor at the beginning of the course to determine an appropriate amount of work for your course.
All upper level studio courses will contain the following:
Art History Project
Studio Research Project
Other projects as assigned by course instructor
